G2P Payment Arrangements in Egypt and COVID-19

Since 2005, Egypt has taken a number of steps to modernize and rationalize it’s social assistance and G2P infrastructure. The government has established a digital payments processor, created both conditional and unconditional cash transfer programs, and unified it’s pension schemes under one organization. This summary report details the evolution and operation of these processes, and how they were leveraged during the COVID-19 pandemic.
